Chris Powell joined Luton Town last October as assistant to young manager Jack Wilshere, bringing a 40-year football career that began as a Crystal Palace apprentice. The career includes promotions, sackings, England caps, a European Championship final appearance and an MBE. Powell offers calm, practical support and mentorship, helping shape leadership, player care and media and fan communication. He stresses patience during the club's rebuilding process and provides tactical and emotional guidance. Wilshere relies on Powell daily for advice on situations and players and values his steadying influence during difficult moments.
