Unai Emery targets Europa League success as a feasible route to Champions League qualification if Aston Villa finish outside the Premier League top four. Villa beat Fenerbahce 1-0 in Turkey to secure a last-16 place and a top-eight league-phase finish with a game to spare. A 1-0 home defeat to Everton left Emery warning the club are not top-five contenders, making continental success more important. Emery has won the Europa League four times, most recently with Villarreal in 2021, and was managing his 100th game in the competition. Villa have won 20 of their past 25 matches.
