Dundee United claim 'turning point' despite continued losses
"While the reported pre-tax loss of 636,000 will naturally draw attention, it's important to note that this includes nearly 400,000 in accounting interest charges, which are notional, non-cash items. The more meaningful measure of our underlying performance is EBITDA, which shows a profit of 204,501, our first profitable EBITDA since 2018. This marks a genuine turning point for the club and reflects the solid financial foundations now in place."
"strongest financial result in recent years"
"the positive trend that has prevailed since the restructuring of senior leadership at the club in 2023"
Dundee United recorded a pre-tax loss of 636,000 for the year to the end of June while achieving a record turnover of more than 10.5m, up 64% from 6.5m the previous year. Commercial revenue reached nearly 3m, a 26% increase. Operating loss fell to 100,000 from 2.3m, and EBITDA returned a profit of 204,501, the club's first profitable EBITDA since 2018. Nearly 400,000 of accounting interest charges are non-cash. Wages-to-turnover ratio dropped to 60% from 81%, and total costs fell by 2m compared with the 2022/23 Premiership season.
