'Disgraceful Spurs had 11 fit players' - captain Romero
""Great effort from all my team-mates yesterday, they were incredible,""
""I wanted to be available to help them even though I wasn't feeling well, especially since we only had 11 players available - unbelievable but true and disgraceful.""
""The fans just want the best for the club, just like I, the owners, the staff, the players. Everyone wants the best for the club,""
Tottenham entered the 2-2 draw with Manchester City with only 11 senior players available after nine injuries in 2026 and the sale of last season's top scorer Brennan Johnson. The club made two senior signings in January: Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid and 19-year-old Brazilian defender Souza from Santos, plus loan signing 18-year-old James Wilson for the under-21s. Cristian Romero, who withdrew with an illness, described the lack of available players as "disgraceful" and pledged the squad would keep working together. Manager Thomas Frank responded that some matters should remain internal and defended the club's transfer efforts.
