'Did that really happen?' - Macclesfield fancy another Premier League test
"There was always that bit of hope and, as it's the FA Cup, it throws up mad moments. I thought we were the well-deserved winners and credit to the lads. They were absolutely outstanding."
"You also think 'did that just really happen?' but then you're watching videos back and stuff and it was fantastic."
"The scenes and the fans were absolutely incredible - to see them on the pitch after the game, that's how much it means to them."
Sixth-tier Macclesfield produced a 2-1 victory over Premier League and FA Cup holders Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third round, described as the competition's greatest shock. Manager John Rooney expressed disbelief but praised his players as outstanding and deserved winners. Rooney celebrated in the bar after the game, then left his players to continue celebrating, and was later woken by his children to take them to football. Wayne Rooney attended and was emotional at full-time, and Rooney's son ran onto the pitch after the second goal. There could be more special moments to come for Macclesfield in this cup.
