Derby sign Brereton Diaz on loan from Southampton

Derby County have signed striker Ben Brereton Diaz on loan from Southampton for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Sheffield United after joining Southampton from Villarreal in summer 2024. He scored four goals in 18 games, helping the Blades reach the Championship play-off final in his second spell. He began his career at Nottingham Forest, debuting in 2017 before moving to Blackburn two years later. He has won 35 caps for Chile and scored seven international goals. He is Derby's 13th summer signing and will be expected to make an immediate impact under John Eustace as the side remain winless in their opening four Championship games.
