"Julian Nagelsmann has been manager of the German national team ever since taking charge in the fall of 2023 following the dismissal of Hansi Flick. His contract with Die Mannschaft is set to run through 2028 as he preps to lead Germany back to the promise land in next summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. They finished on top of their World Cup qualifying group over the likes of Slovakia, Northern Ireland, and Luxembourg."
"While there is a great deal of excitement for the German national team in the buildup to next summer's tournament, there are contingency plans in place by the DFB. Per information from Get German Football News on X, there is a termination clause in Nagelsmann's contract with the DFB that would see him released of his duties if Germany fail to progress out of their group and into the knockout stages."
Julian Nagelsmann took charge of the German national team in fall 2023, replacing Hansi Flick, with a contract running through 2028. Germany topped their World Cup qualifying group ahead of Slovakia, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg, recording five wins and one loss, scoring sixteen goals and conceding three; the only defeat was a 2-0 loss to Slovakia in October. Germany were drawn into Group E with Curaçao, Côte d'Ivoire and Ecuador. The DFB included a termination clause that would release Nagelsmann if Germany fail to progress from the group stage. Nagelsmann intends to complete his contract and remains confident about the team's prospects.
