Napoli beat Sassuolo 2-0 with goals from Scott McTominay and Kevin De Bruyne, extending an unbeaten run to 13 matches (W8 D5), the longest across Europe’s top five leagues. Only a 19-match run under Luciano Spalletti in 2022 was longer. Conte warned the campaign will be difficult as Napoli juggle European commitments and league action and said completing the squad will require patience. He sought midfield balance after starting McTominay, De Bruyne, Lobotka and Frank Anguissa. McTominay scored a 17th-minute near-post header and has 10 Serie A goals in 2025; De Bruyne, aged 34 years 56 days, became the oldest player to score on his Napoli Serie A debut since 1994-95.
It will be a very difficult and interesting campaign with seven or eight teams fighting for the Scudetto or Champions League qualification,
We are trying to complete the structure of the squad, and it will require patience.
