Concacaf president revealed to make $3m a year for five hours' work per week
"If it's really five hours then he is extremely well paid but I doubt it is the case, he said. I think this is something they just routinely plug in. I have been on boards because I teach non-profit law and I don't think I have ever been asked by the organization's accounting firm how many hours I have spent [at work]."
"Concacaf president Victor Montagliani is paid over $3m per year for what the organization claims is just five hours per week of work, according to the latest tax filing made to the Internal Revenue Service. Publicly available filings, first reported by ProPublica, show that the Canadian was paid $2.1m in base compensation and an additional $893,750 in unspecified bonus and incentive compensation for the 2024 tax year. An additional $15,780 was paid in deferred or retirement compensation."
Victor Montagliani received $2.1 million in base compensation, $893,750 in bonus and incentive compensation, and $15,780 in deferred or retirement pay, totaling over $3 million for 2024. The tax filing lists Montagliani's work time as five hours per week. General secretary Phillipe Mogglio earned $1,569,600 in base pay and over $2.4 million including bonuses, with an average reported workweek of 40 hours. Concacaf is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit trade organization headquartered in Miami and is the host confederation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Duke law professor Richard Schmalbeck questioned the accuracy of the listed hours and noted procedural issues around the return's handling.
