An academy Uefa Youth League match in Baku was marred by alleged racist abuse directed at Chelsea players after Sol Gordon scored in the 57th minute and celebrated near home supporters. Eyewitnesses reported monkey gestures from a section of the crowd; players complained to Ukrainian referee Dmytro Kubriak and the match was briefly stopped while coaching staff engaged in discussions. Chelsea continued and won 5-0, with Jesse Derry scoring twice and substitutes Shim Mheuka and Frankie Runham also on target. Chelsea condemned the abuse, said players have full club support, and reported the incident to the Uefa match delegate and home club. A Qarabag spokesperson apologised and said the behaviour "doesn't represent the values of the club."
