Chapecoense honour Atletico Nacional plane crash victims with jersey
"The 2026 season jersey is a tribute to Atlético Nacional, a club that in 2016 reaffirmed its greatness through remarkable gestures of solidarity, empathy, and love for others, which crossed borders and became an inseparable part of the history of world football and the reconstruction of Chapecoense,"
"On the back of the shirt, near the collar, the seal with the inscription 'Forever Remembered' honors the victims of the 2016 plane crash."
"Thank you, brothers."
Chapecoense is releasing a 2026 season jersey that honors Atlético Nacional and the victims of the 2016 plane crash. The crash near Medellín killed 71 people, including 19 Chapecoense players and staff, as the team traveled for the Copa Sudamericana final. Atlético Nacional pushed for Chapecoense to be awarded the Copa Sudamericana posthumously. The new shirt uses Atlético Nacional's green-and-white stripes and includes a seal near the collar inscribed 'Forever Remembered' to honor the victims. The club describes the jersey as representing unity, respect and gratitude. Survivor and former defender Neto fronts the campaign. Chapecoense recently returned to Brazil's top flight after promotion.
