Champions League round-up: PSG thrash Atalanta while Inter win at Ajax
"Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain made their title-retaining intentions known as they ran riot in Paris, thrashing Atalanta 4-0 at the Parc des Princes. It took all of three minutes for the Luis Enrique's side to open the scoring, with captain Marquinhos tapping home from a Fabian Ruiz cross. From there it was one-way traffic. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia added a second with the goal of the night, skipping past several Atalanta defenders before rifling the ball into the net from the edge of the area."
"At the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, goals from Marcus Thuram either side of half-time gave Inter all three points in their first game back in the competition since the humbling 5-0 defeat at the hands of PSG in last season's final. Thuram scored in the 42nd and 47th minute as the Serie A club began this campaign with a victory over Ajax to bounce back from the 4-3 loss to rivals Juventus last weekend."
Paris Saint-Germain demolished Atalanta 4-0 at the Parc des Princes, opening through Marquinhos after three minutes and adding goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes and Goncalo Ramos; Bradley Barcola missed a 44th-minute penalty. Inter beat Ajax 2-0 at the Johan Cruyff Arena with Marcus Thuram scoring either side of half-time to secure the win. Slavia Praha took a commanding lead through an El Hadji Youssoupha Mbodji brace but conceded late goals from Daniel Basi and Sondre Brunstad Fet to finish 2-2. Pafos earned a 0-0 draw at Olympiacos despite Bruno Felipe’s early red card.
