Champions League: Liverpool leave Chiesa out of 22-man squad with Ngumoha preferred
"Clubs can name a maximum of 25 players in their List A squad for the Champions League, which must feature eight 'home grown' players, with a minimum of four required to 'locally trained' by the club for a minimum of three years between the ages of 15 and 21. Italy international Chiesa has not made the cut, though, the former Juventus forward omitted in favour of teenager Rio Ngumoha."
"According to UEFA regulations, a player can be registered on List B if he is "born on or after 1 January 2004 and has, since his 15th birthday, been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years, or a total of three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year.""
Liverpool have left Federico Chiesa out of their 22-man squad for this season's Champions League. The Reds begin their campaign on September 17 with a home game against Atletico Madrid. Clubs can name a maximum of 25 players in their List A squad, which must include eight home-grown players and at least four locally trained by the club for three years between ages 15 and 21. Chiesa has struggled for regular minutes since joining Liverpool last year, and Alexander Isak's arrival further limits his opportunities. Rio Ngumoha scored a 100th-minute winner at Newcastle and may feature in the group stage against several European sides.
