Martin O'Neill has spoken to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and expressed interest in signing the 32-year-old free-agent midfielder. Oxlade-Chamberlain mutually terminated his contract at Besiktas in late August after scoring five goals in 50 appearances and winning the Turkish Cup in 2024. He has been training with Arsenal and has 35 England caps. Celtic completed several deadline-day loan signings, including Junior Adamu, Joel Mvuka and Benjamin Arther, and also brought in Tomas Cvancara and Julian Araujo on loan earlier. Celtic rejected an approach from Nottingham Forest for Arne Engels. O'Neill noted Oxlade-Chamberlain's familiarity with the club and friendship with Joe Hart, while accepting that a move may not materialise.
