Celtic chairman calls for unity amid fan boycott plans
"I don't expect suddenly all the issues to go away, What I've asked for, and what I think the great majority of Celtic supporters want to see, is unity behind the team. Let's sort out these other issues - and in no way am I dismissing them or marginalising them. Short term, it's imperative to support the team. It's up to each individual to decide whether a boycott inside the stadium or outside the stadium helps that. That's for people to judge."
"there hasn't been as much engagement [with the fans] as I would've liked"
Celtic interim chairman Brian Wilson appealed for supporters to unite behind the team ahead of the Scottish Cup last-16 tie against Dundee amid plans by some fans to boycott the match. Supporters' groups urged external fans not to attend as sections remain unhappy with the board after an underwhelming transfer window and perceived lack of engagement. Wilson acknowledged there had not been as much engagement as he would have liked, saying transfer activity had been the priority. He praised Martin O'Neill, Shaun Maloney and the players. The winter window included managerial and operations sackings, five loan signings, a rejected bid up to £25m for Arne Engels, and talks to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
