Cates to front Denmark v Scotland coverage on BBC
Briefly

Denmark and Scotland meet in Group C at Parken, Copenhagen on Friday 5 September with a 19:45 BST kick-off. BBC will provide live coverage on BBC Scotland, BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website & app, with text updates and radio coverage on BBC Radio Scotland and Sounds. Kelly Cates will host studio coverage and has interviewed Scotland head coach Steve Clarke, who reflected on past World Cups, preparations and Group C challenges that include Belarus and Greece. The BBC secured exclusive rights in March in a wider Uefa deal covering Northern Ireland and Wales, and studio pundits include Scott Brown, Neil McCann and Peter Lovenkrands.
Kelly Cates will host exclusive television coverage on the BBC as the Scottish nation begins to dream again of World Cup glory on Friday. As announced in March, the BBC has exclusive rights to broadcast live all Scotland men's international football matches on television and radio in the run-up to the 2026 finals. Cates, the highly experienced television and radio host who recently became one of the presenters of the flagship Match of the Day programme, will front the studio coverage on TV.
Also well known as the daughter of Scotland, Celtic and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish, Glasgow-born Cates has already added to the pre-match build-up to Friday's opener in Denmark by interviewing head coach Steve Clarke. During the exclusive head-to-head, Clarke discussed his memories of watching Scotland in previous World Cups, preparations for this campaign and the challenges in Group C, which also includes Belarus and Greece.
The BBC contract announced in March is part of a wider deal agreed with European governing body Uefa that also includes matches involving Northern Ireland and Wales - the first time the broadcaster has secured live rights for all three of the UK's devolved nations. It included 14 live Scotland matches, which began with the first leg of the Nations League play-off in Greece on 20 March.
