Aaron Ramsey was omitted from the Wales squad for the World Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan and a friendly against Canada because of lack of match fitness. Ramsey has made only one substitute appearance since March, which came when he debuted for new club Pumas UNAM after a hamstring injury at Cardiff City. Ramsey has stated a goal of playing at the 2026 World Cup. Wales boss Craig Bellamy described the omission as a mutual decision, insisted Ramsey remains available for selection, and praised Ramsey's leadership, influence and positive effect on team confidence.
