"FC Bayern will be without Josip Stanišić for the foreseeable future. The defender suffered a partial rupture of the medial ligament in his right knee during Wednesday's Champions League opening win over Chelsea (3-1). The diagnosis was confirmed during an examination carried out by the FC Bayern medical unit. However, the release from Bayern Munich might sound more ominous than the situation really is. Per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), Stanišić will be out for two-to-three weeks:"
"The injury will likely mean that Konrad Laimer will have to shift to Stanišić's left-back position, while Sacha Boey will fill-in at right-back. With Alphonso Davies, Hiroki Itō, and Stanišić all out, Laimer is - effectively - the club's fourth-string option at the position. Tom Bischof could also get a look at left-back to provide support. It is also conceivable that Vincent Kompany could shift to a back-three-based formation if needed."
Josip Stanišić suffered a partial rupture of the medial ligament in his right knee during Bayern Munich's 3-1 Champions League win over Chelsea. FC Bayern's medical unit confirmed the diagnosis and announced he is out for the foreseeable future. Bild reported a two-to-three week absence, while Sky Sport's Torben Hoffmann suggested one-to-two weeks. The injury will likely force Konrad Laimer to shift to left-back with Sacha Boey at right-back, and Tom Bischof could provide additional cover. Vincent Kompany could also adapt the system to a back-three if required. Bayern secured the win via Harry Kane's brace and a Chelsea own goal.
