""It's an honour and a privilege to be Shrewsbury Town's head coach,""
""The last few days have been a whirlwind, but I'm incredibly excited about the challenge ahead and the opportunity to represent this special football club once again.""
Gavin Cowan has been appointed Shrewsbury Town head coach, replacing Michael Appleton. Cowan is 44 and made 30 appearances for Shrewsbury between March 2005 and January 2007. He joined Brackley Town in May 2023 and led the club to promotion by winning the National League North title in 2024–25. Cowan will be assisted by former Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton midfielder Dave Edwards and Brackley assistant Jamie Haynes. Shrewsbury were two points above the League Two relegation zone after one win in 11 matches when Appleton departed. The club agreed a compensation package with Brackley. Cowan's first match will be the home fixture against Barnet.
