The incident took place on November 8 against Union Berlin. Kompany has a rule, 'Be Ready', meaning he wants his players to be immediately ready with their shinpads, boots, and tapes when he demands a substitution."
"Boey was supposed to be subbed on in that game, but he hadn't yet tied his boots or put on his shinpads - and so Kompany left him out and cancelled the substitution. The coach then held a face-to-face conversation with Boey and really gave him a 'dressing-down' about the incident."
Sacha Boey is sidelined with a severe gastrointestinal problem that currently prevents him from playing. Prior to the illness, Vincent Kompany was unhappy with Boey after an incident on November 8 against Union Berlin. Kompany enforces a 'Be Ready' rule requiring players to have shinpads, boots, and tapes ready for immediate substitutions. Boey was due to be subbed on but had not tied his boots or put on shinpads, so Kompany cancelled the substitution and left him out. Kompany then gave Boey a private dressing-down to avoid public embarrassment. Boey has not been written off and could return once fit.
