Bayern Munich want to extend Serge Gnabry, but he'll need to take pay cut
"Per information from Sport Bild's Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia), the Bayern bosses are in agreement that they would very much like Gnabry to stay at the club beyond this summer. A two-year contract extension is being discussed amongst the club's top brass, which would keep him at the club through June 2028."
"For the Gnabry himself, though, the only potential roadblock would be the fact that he would more than likely have to take a wage cut to be able to agree to a contract extension, potential lowering his current salary by up to 30%. As things stand, he currently earns roughly €18.8 million per year, plus bonuses, which is within the top five earners at the club."
"Prior to sustaining his adductor problem that kept him out of the lineups for Bayern's wins against Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) and then Club Brugge (Champions League), Gnabry had already tallied three goals and four assists from a total of ten appearances across all competitions. Consistency has been a big problem of his in recent seasons at Bayern, but he has been a consistent producer in what's been an electric Bayern attack so far this season."
Serge Gnabry currently has a contract running through June 2026, and Bayern Munich is discussing a two-year extension to June 2028. Club leaders agree they want him to remain, but the extension would likely require Gnabry to accept a wage reduction potentially reaching 30%. Gnabry earns roughly €18.8 million per year plus bonuses and sits among the club's top five earners. He missed games with an adductor problem but had three goals and four assists in ten appearances across all competitions. Consistency has been an issue historically, yet his current production projects to surpass last season's totals of seven goals and nine assists.
