Bay FC added rookie defender Brooklyn Courtnall on loan from the North Carolina Courage to strengthen backfield depth for the final two months of the season. Courtnall will join the roster for Monday's match at Angel City FC and appeared in three matches for the Courage. Bay FC sits 12th in the NWSL standings with nine regular-season matches remaining and is four points out of eighth place after a recent run of one-goal losses and a 0-2-4 stretch since June 7. Courtnall was a four-year starter at USC, a first-team All-American, helped lead USC to the NCAA quarterfinals, and scored her first professional goal July 25 in a friendly against Chivas. Bay FC paid a conditional loan fee to secure the move.

The second-year club is coming off consecutive one-goal losses, including a 1-0 decision before a league-record crowd of 40,091 at the Giants' waterfront ballpark on Saturday, and hasn't won a league match since June 7, going 0-2-4 in its past six matches.
