The Bay Area is vying to host matches for the women's World Cup in 2031. The BAHC president, Zaileen Janmohamed, stated that the area has a compelling narrative as a leading sports destination. Upcoming major events, including the Super Bowl and the notable engagement in women's sports, boost the Bay Area's chances. The women's World Cup will involve 48 teams and will take place across the U.S. and Mexico. Cities must submit bids for hosting by November with at least 29 bids already received.
The Bay Area Host Committee is actively reviewing the area's bid to host matches when the international tournament returns to American soil, according to BAHC president and CEO Zaileen Janmohamed.
We think the Bay Area has a tremendous story to tell as a premier sports and entertainment destination in the United States and beyond, Janmohamed said.
The experience of hosting those events, coupled with the unprecedented energy around women's sports in the Bay right now...put us in a great position to potentially pursue this bid.
Cities have until November to officially submit their bids for games in the 2031 edition.
