Barbeary to join Saracens from Bath in 2026-27
"Alfie is a highly talented young player who we are delighted to welcome to the club. His attributes and character will complement and add value to the group and we are looking forward to him realising his potential in the years ahead."
"Saracens have always been a top club and I am looking forward to a new challenge in north London. They have consistently been challenging for silverware and that is something I am very motivated to help them achieve."
Saracens have secured number eight Alfie Barbeary from Bath, effective from the 2026-27 season. The 25-year-old has made 60 appearances for Bath, including 11 this season, and contributed to the club's treble win last year by featuring in Premiership, Premiership Rugby Cup, and Challenge Cup finals. Barbeary joined Bath in 2022 following Wasps' collapse. His signing comes as back row Tom Willis departs for Bordeaux. Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall praised Barbeary as a highly talented player whose attributes and character will enhance the squad. Barbeary, who has represented England A and played at under-20 level, expressed enthusiasm about joining a top club consistently challenging for silverware.
