Son opened the scoring in the 21st minute and set up Bouanga's 100th goal across all competitions. Bouanga scored again in the 44th minute after cutting inside Brendan Hines-Ike. Hugo Lloris made three saves, including a diving stop on a penalty by Myrto Uzuni. Ryan Porteous was booked for a foul and Dani Pereira converted a stoppage-time penalty to make it 3-1 at halftime, while an Austin goal by CJ Fodrey was later ruled offside.
