Augsburg vs Bayern Munich: Team news, lineup, prediction
Briefly

Bayern Munich travel to Augsburg after a 6-0 Bundesliga opening win over RB Leipzig and a hard-fought 3-2 DFB-Pokal victory over Wehen Wiesbaden. Augsburg began their season with a 3-1 win at Freiburg and changed direction by appointing Sandro Wagner as head coach following a 12th-place finish and poor late-season form. Augsburg have lost their last six meetings with Bayern, conceding at least three goals in each. Bayern's attack showed strength with Harry Kane's hat-trick and contributions from Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and Luis Diaz. Augsburg will be without suspended striker Samuel Essende for one more game.
Bayern Munich will look to maintain their winning run in the 2025-26 Bundesliga season when they face hosts Augsburg at WWK Arena. The German champions opened their new campaign with the thumping 6-0 win over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena, whereas Augsburg defeated Freiburg 3-1 away from home in their first game. Bayern are heading to this game on the back of a hard-fought 3-2 win over Hesse-based Wehen Wiesbaden in the German Cup.
Augsburg moved in a fresh direction this summer after they finished 12th in the Bundesliga last season. They needed to make a change after losing their final four games in the league in 2024-25, and only picked up one win in their last eight matches. They have taken a big gamble by appointing Sandro Wagner as their new head coach. This is Wagner's first-ever job as head coach of a professional side, after he previously worked as an assistant for Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann.
Bayern, on the other hand, were ruthless against Leipzig, with Harry Kane scoring a hat-trick. Michael Olise was superb in the opening game, while Serge Gnabry also impressed, along with new signing Luis Diaz. The Bavarian giants are still looking to add more quality players to their ranks before the end of the window, but they can only bring players on loan.
