The player accepted a voluntary provisional suspension effective 2 June 2025. UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings on 10 June and carried out an investigation. The UEFA disciplinary body met on 19 August 2025 and imposed a ten-month suspension starting from the provisional suspension date and ending on 2 April 2026. The player stated he unintentionally took a hair-loss prevention medicine while treating alopecia following a 2016 cancer diagnosis.
