Willie French, president of the Edinburgh Primary Schools Sports Association, admitted embarrassment and purchased a new, equal-sized trophy for £1,600 after receiving the girls' letter. He presented the new trophy at the school, and the players expressed pride for standing up for themselves despite initially feeling upset.
