Charlton Athletic is marking a return to form after years of hardship, culminating in a promotion to the Championship. Striker Charlie Kelman, who topped the League One scoring charts while on loan at Leyton Orient, has signed permanently with Charlton and is eager to contribute. He views the club positively, citing an exciting project and the influence of the gaffer in his decision to join. The club has navigated numerous ownership and managerial changes, leading to their struggles until Nathan Jones took charge, guiding them to promotion.
Kelman stated, "For me this was my number one choice. Straight away, as soon as there was interest this was the club for me, there was no other place I wanted to go."
Kelman expressed excitement about the club's future, saying, "From the outside looking in, the project they're building is very exciting and I want to play my part in that."
Paul Mortimer reflected on the club's challenges, saying, "We've gone through a lot of different owners and managers and that's shown why we were where we were."
Jones was hired in February 2024 and has brought steady progress, culminating in promotion after a strong run of results over his second season.
