""If any player, any coach or any manager is found guilty of racism, they shouldn't be in the game. It's as simple as that. "It's upsetting. Always, there needs to be context to it. What I will say, you can see any form of racism in society, not just football, is unacceptable. "I cannot speak about an incident where an investigation is ongoing. What I would say is when you see a player upset how Vinicius Jr was upset, normally they're upset for a reason.""
""I have been racially abused myself. What people need to understand is when you are judged for something you should be proud of, it is the worst feeling you can ever possibly imagine," said Rosenior."
""Given the distance, the Real Madrid players could not have heard what they claim to have heard.""
UEFA opened an investigation into claims that Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr was racially abused by Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni during a Champions League match. Prestianni denies the allegation and could face a minimum 10-match suspension in European competition if found guilty. Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior urged that anyone found guilty of racism should not be in the game, defended Vinicius and described the deep hurt caused by being judged for a trait to be proud of. Benfica posted a video on social media, called the claims a defamation campaign and argued distance made alleged comments inaudible. Jose Mourinho accused Vinicius of provoking the crowd with his celebration.
