The Austrian Football Association scheduled an Ireland Nations League match at the Raiffeisen Arena in Linz. The stadium’s reduced capacity compared with Vienna’s usual venue is expected to create a ticket scramble for Ireland supporters. Ireland’s previous three away matches against Austria were played in Vienna, but this campaign includes Linz as a home venue for two of three group games. Austria begins its autumn schedule in Linz against Israel, then plays in Vienna against Kosovo, and returns to Linz for the Ireland match on Saturday, November 14. Linz is about an hour by train from Vienna, and the stadium holds 19,000, limiting the Irish allocation to under 1,000 tickets.
"Ireland fans heading to Austria for the Nations League game in the autumn will have to do some additional travel as the Austrian FA have fixed the match for the Raiffeisen Arena in the city of Linz. And the reduced capacity there, compared to the usual home stadium in Vienna, will lead to a ticket scramble for Ireland supporters."
"Ireland's last three games away to Austria were all played in the capital, Vienna, but Ralf Rangnick's team are on the move for their group games this year and Linz, host city for an Irish 6-0 defeat in a Euro qualifier in 1971, will be their home venue for two of the three matches."
"The Austrians kick off their autumn schedule with against Israel in Linz, move to Vienna for a date with Kosovo but return to Linz for the Ireland match on Saturday November 14th. That is Ireland's second last game of the campaign as they finish up at home to Kosovo on Tuesday November 17th."
"Linz is an hour by train from Vienna so Irish fans will need to factor that into their travel plans. The stadium holds only 19,000 fans so the Irish allocation will be less than 1,000."
