Algeria 1-0 DR Congo (aet): Boulbina strikes at the death to clinch quarter-final spot - Soccer News
"It looked like the quarter-final spot would be decided by a penalty shootout, but Boulbina had other ideas when he cut inside Aaron Wan-Bissaka and fired into the top-right corner, booking their last eight tie with Nigeria in the process. Algeria enjoyed 58.9% of possession in the first half, but it was DR Congo who almost went ahead. Cedric Bakambu showed great tenacity to create a chance for himself, which was tipped around the post by Luca Zidane,"
"It was another cagey start in the second half, with both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances. The first shot on goal after half-time came through Edo Kayembe, whose strike from distance was comfortably saved by Zidane. Algeria found some rhythm in the closing stages, with Mohammed Amoura and Anis Hadj Moussa testing the goalkeeper, but it was a vital intervention from Zineddine Belaid at the other end which prevented DR Congo from snatching a stoppage-time winner."
Adil Boulbina's curling strike in the 119th minute gave Algeria a 1-0 extra-time win over DR Congo and a last-eight tie with Nigeria. Algeria held 58.9% possession early but failed to convert, while Cedric Bakambu forced Luca Zidane into a fingertip save and Axel Tuanzebe headed narrowly wide from the corner. Ibrahim Maza recorded Algeria's first shot in the 42nd minute. Edo Kayembe's long-range attempt was saved after half-time. Mohammed Amoura and Anis Hadj Moussa threatened late on, and Zineddine Belaid prevented a stoppage-time DR Congo winner. Lionel Mpasi made key extra-time saves before Boulbina's decisive goal. Algeria produced 0.62 xG from 12 shots to DR Congo's 0.1.
