Executives from US host city committees for the 2026 World Cup voiced concerns over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids affecting their ability to welcome an anticipated five million foreign visitors. These raids have led to arrests even among visa holders and citizens, compounded by slow visa processes and travel bans. Meg Kane, CEO of the Philadelphia host committee, emphasized the need to operate within this uncertainty, highlighting geopolitical issues that may arise. The host cities remain committed to managing logistical challenges related to transportation, lodging, and safety for fans during the tournament.
"There are certainly things that are happening at the national level, the international level. There are going to be geopolitical issues that we don't even know right now that are going to affect the tournament next year, Kane said."
"We recognize that we're planning within uncertainty. And one of the things that I think we all recognize is that we have to be really good at operating within that uncertainty."
