2026-27 SPFL season sets early August start
"All four divisions will start over the first weekend in August and, for the third season running, there will be no winter break for the top flight. The Premiership's 38th and final round of games will be played over 15 and 16 May 2027, with play-offs completed by 23 May 2027. The Championship's regular season will conclude on Friday, 30 April 2027, with Leagues 1 and 2 ending the following day."
"The Premier Sports Cup first-round group stage will take place from 11-26 July 2026, with the final scheduled for 13 December 2026. A spokesperson for the SPFL said: "The new Fifa calendar comes into effect next season and the amalgamation of the September/October international windows means there will be no William Hill Premiership matches scheduled for the weekends of 26/27 September and 3/4 October. "The dates for the 2026/27 KDM Evolution Trophy will be confirmed in due course.""
The 2026-27 Scottish Professional Football League season will begin on the weekend of 1 and 2 August 2026, with all four divisions starting that weekend. The Premiership will have no winter break for the third consecutive season. The Premiership's final round is scheduled for 15 and 16 May 2027, with play-offs completed by 23 May 2027. The Championship regular season ends on 30 April 2027, while Leagues 1 and 2 conclude on 1 May 2027. The Premier Sports Cup group stage runs from 11-26 July 2026, with the final on 13 December 2026. International window changes under the new FIFA calendar remove Premiership matches on 26/27 September and 3/4 October, and dates for the KDM Evolution Trophy and the Scottish Cup will be confirmed separately.
