"The Yellowstone Club in Southwest Montana turned out to be just the fix I needed. After a week of consistent snowfall, the conditions were superb. Located just east of Big Sky Resort, the Yellowstone Club has something for everybody, perfectly groomed greens and blues, spaced glades that let you link turns at speed, and steep, sustained chutes off of the ridge. In total, the club spans over 2,700 skiable acres across 104 runs."
"I found shelter-a soft spot in between the peak and the trees off the Ridge Road. Heavy wind gave way to silence and snow. As I checked the terrain, I immediately knew this would be my first powder day of the season. Equal parts untracked fresh snow and wind-loaded fluff, my first turns were deep-more than the 5 inches reported at 6 a.m., more like 12. Here in Big Sky, the wind can be your best friend or your worst enemy."
A slow start to the 2025-26 ski season included a few days on man-made snow in Colorado before a week of consistent snowfall at the Yellowstone Club revived the powder experience. The club sits east of Big Sky Resort and offers groomed greens and blues, spaced glades, steep sustained chutes, and 2,700 skiable acres across 104 runs. The first day reported 5 inches but wind-loaded areas produced nearer 12 inches. Strong winds at Mountain Lift forced shelter-seeking, and forgetting a wind buff was costly. Snow fell steadily through the morning, enabling multiple soft, deep runs including the wide, steep 'First Hour Glass.'
