"The UK is currently home to six indoor snow sports complexes, with five more currently planned. The current largest, Chill Factore in Manchester, offers an indoor 590-foot ski slope. Rhydycar West's slope will top out at an impressive 1,312 feet in length, over double the length of its nearest competitor. The indoor slope will be located southwest of the A470/A4102 roundabout. Local Councilor Brent Carter expressed his unwavering support for the project."
Merthyr Tydfil approved the Rhydycar West development to build the UK's longest indoor ski slope and a mixed winter sports complex. The scheme includes indoor and outdoor activity centers, up to 418 hotel rooms, possibly 30 woodland lodges, about 830 parking spaces, and a large water park. The project is expected to create around 1,500 construction jobs and roughly 800 permanent local jobs. The facility is projected to serve as the official training base for Welsh and Great Britain Olympic and Paralympic snow sports teams. The slope will measure 1,312 feet, more than double the current largest indoor slope.
