"The terrain park operates on different rules and guidelines than the rest of the ski resort. While the downhill skier always has the right of way on the rest of the mountain, skiers and snowboarders are responsible for clearing out of any landing zone as soon as they can. Hanging out in the landing zone or allowing your child to hang out in the landing zone, as we see in the video below, is absolutely unacceptable,"
"You can see in the video that there was no way Ibrahima, who posted the video, could have seen the child underneath the tube. The parents did absolutely nothing to alert the skiers to the child's presence, and they only seemed to care after the child was hit. Terrain parks are not playgrounds. Allowing your child to sled or play in one is a recipe for disaster."
The terrain park follows different rules and guidelines than the rest of the ski resort. Downhill skiers have the right of way on the rest of the mountain, but skiers and snowboarders in the terrain park must clear landing zones as quickly as possible. Remaining in a landing zone endangers riders and is unacceptable. Caregivers who allow children to loiter in landing zones bear responsibility for any collisions. The referenced video shows a child hidden beneath a tube and a rider unable to see them. The parents failed to alert approaching skiers. Terrain parks are not playgrounds. Allowing children to sled or play in terrain parks creates a high risk of injury.
