Silver Mountain, ID, Report: Fresh Tracks All Day If You're Willing to Hunt - SnowBrains
"Conditions ReportContinuing on my journey through Visit Idaho's Gem Line, I headed from Sandpoint, Idaho, to Kellogg, Idaho, for another powder day at Silver Mountain. I had skied at Silver last season and had a great time lapping pristine corduroy during a stint of high pressure. I was excited to return with plenty of recent fresh snow to explore some of the steeper, off-piste terrain at Silver."
"I started the day just down the road from the parking lot for Silver Mountain at The Beanery, a great local coffee shop that served up an excellent latte and breakfast sandwich. Properly fueled for another pow day, I headed to the Silver village, home to their lodging, water park, and start of the longest gondola in North America, to find a bustling crowd of people excited to head up to the mountain."
Travel moved from Sandpoint to Kellogg for a powder day at Silver Mountain. The morning began at The Beanery with a latte and breakfast sandwich before heading to Silver village, which houses lodging, a water park, and the start of North America’s longest gondola. Jackass Day on January 8 commemorates the 1967 opening of Jackass Ski Bowl; Silver offered $20 lift tickets and opened all five chairlifts after fresh snow. Gondola riders exchanged local food and drink recommendations. Runs from Kellogg Peak included Steep and Deep with a 35° headwall. Pine forests, valley and mountain views accompanied remaining fresh tracks and overnight refills.
