Seven Springs, PA, 13Foot Halfpipe is Officially Open for the 2025-26 Season - SnowBrains
"It is a mini halfpipe, meaning that it is not as big as an Olympic halfpipe, and its walls are 13 feet high, 55 feet wide, 350 feet long, with a 16-degree pitch. Seven Springs defines it as a progression halfpipe, which gives East Coast skiers and snowboarders a dedicated, approachable venue to develop and push their skills."
"He explained that the halfpipe had not been rebuilt because of poor weather conditions, lack of snow, and the resources to build a halfpipe. Another factor why it was not built over those years was the limited number of skiers or snowboarders with the skill level needed to actually hit it. Building a halfpipe that large didn't make sense, and those resources could be used on other terrain."
"However, with the great season the East is having this year, and with consistent cold temperatures and natural snowfall, it only made sense to make it happen. "We (Cook and Gillan) talked about it and see if it's feasible and if it makes sense," Keenan Gillan, Director of Mountain Operations, said to SnowBrains in an interview. "With the winter that we've had, it was pretty easy to just go, yeah, we've got a lot of our terrain open, let's try to go for it.""
Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania reopened a progression mini halfpipe with 13-foot walls, 55-foot width, 350-foot length, and a 16-degree pitch. The progression facility offers East Coast skiers and snowboarders a dedicated, approachable venue to develop and push skills. The resort previously operated a larger halfpipe in the 2020–21 season with 22-foot walls, 60-foot width, and a 500-foot descent at a 15 percent pitch. The larger pipe was not rebuilt in subsequent years due to poor weather, lack of snow, limited resources, and relatively few skiers or riders with the required skill level. Strong seasonal snowfall and cold temperatures made rebuilding feasible and justified restoring the pipe to expand terrain and progression opportunities.
