"Mt. Bachelor had just opened for the season two days prior; one of its latest openings ever. The snow report on Christmas morning showed one inch of new snow with four lifts open including the Pine Marten and Skyliner Express lifts. Lets go!!! My whole family (plus my cousin) got up to the mountain in time to jump on Pine Marten Express at 9:15 a.m. There were no lines, and it was still snowing."
"The snow quality, base depth, and overall conditions far exceeded my expectations. In fact, despite the obvious signs a still low snowpack, it felt like a normal mid-winter day. We did a few runs around Olympian and Thunderbird before heading over to Skyliner Express and hitting just about every open run. We even found what my boys described as "powder stashes.""
This La Niña year opened late and Mt. Bachelor opened only two days before Christmas. The Christmas morning report showed one inch of new snow and four lifts open, including Pine Marten and Skyliner Express. The family arrived by 9:15 a.m., boarded Pine Marten Express with no lines as snow continued to fall. Snow quality, base depth, and overall conditions exceeded expectations and felt like a normal mid-winter day. Multiple runs around Olympian, Thunderbird, and Skyliner produced powder stashes. Lunch in West Village preceded clearer afternoon skies and a final Leeway run at 2:30 p.m., followed by a timely return to Sunriver for dinner, presents, and games.
