"It's hard to imagine a better start to the season," Brian Norton said in a press release, Loon's president and general manager. "Consistent temperatures, plus over two feet of natural snow since opening day, have enabled us to get trails open quickly-and with quality snow. Looking back at our records to the early 2000s, we've never had this much terrain open this early in the season."
""I'm proud of our team for maximizing what Mother Nature has given us and delivering the best possible experience for our guests," Norton added."
Loon Mountain Resort began the season with 44 open trails across three peaks and 2,190 vertical feet, exceeding early-season terrain totals seen in modern history. Eleven additional trails opened December 13, unlocking South Peak and expanding access to popular terrain served by three chairlifts. A recent storm dropped 10 inches of natural snow, and combined with sustained cold, the resort has more than 60 percent of its terrain available since lifts started November 21. Operations used over 400 snow guns and new snowcats to lay deep, consistent coverage and improve grooming and surface quality. Conditions and updates are available through the Loon Mountain Report.
