"She was taken off-course by helicopter to a nearby hospital for further evaluation, and for several days the prospect of her competing in the Olympics sat in a state of uncertainty. On Tuesday, February 3rd, Vonn announced that she still intended to compete in the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics despite the torn ACL. Her first medal event, the Women's Downhill, is scheduled for Sunday, February 8th. In the meantime, the 41-year-old ski racer will be testing out her knee in training runs."
"The Women's Downhill medal event is set to begin at 5:30am EST (11:30 AM CET). At today's training run, Vonn was joined by several other Team USA members including Mary Bocock, Keely Cashman, Isabella Wright, Breezy Johnson, and Jacqueline Wiles. Wiles finished the training run with the fastest time on the course, while Breezy Johnson took the 6th fastest time and Vonn took the 11th fastest."
Lindsey Vonn ruptured her ACL and suffered bone bruising in a crash at the Crans-Montana World Cup on January 30. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital for evaluation, leaving her Olympic plans uncertain for several days. On February 3 Vonn announced she intended to compete in Milano Cortina 2026 despite the torn ACL. Her first medal event, Women's Downhill, is scheduled for February 8. One week after the crash Vonn completed a training run on the Cortina downhill course. In training she was joined by Team USA teammates; Jacqueline Wiles posted the fastest run, Breezy Johnson sixth, and Vonn eleventh.
