A backcountry skier was rescued from Colorado's James Peak Wilderness Area on April 25th after a nearly eight-hour search and rescue operation. The skier, part of a group of three, was reported injured and unable to walk. The Gilpin County Sheriff's Office coordinated the rescue with multiple agencies, deploying drones and utilizing a satellite SOS message to locate the group. Rescuers made contact with the injured skier around 3:49pm, and extraction began at 5:51pm. All individuals were safely brought out by 7:44pm, and the injured skier was transported to a hospital.
