Hickory Ski Center will not open for the 2025-26 winter season and the mountain is closed to individual public access for hiking, skinning, snowshoeing, disc golf, and camping. Limited reserved group use may be available by request during the transitional period. Construction work is scheduled at the base lodge and a new website is being developed; the current website will be deactivated around November 1 and social media channels will change. Founded in 1945, Hickory is known for its Poma lifts, steep terrain, and old-school, family-run character. Operators express gratitude and hope that a new management model will restore community-focused operations.
