"In a recent BLISTER Podcast, Bledsoe talked about how he made the mistake of telling new Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who signed the quarterback's contracts, about a recent helicopter skiing trip he took with his father. Kraft didn't react in the moment, but Bledsoe's next contract had quite a bit of language discussing how much money he'd own the team if he wound up injured on the slopes."
"For many people, language like that would get them to put their skis away until retirement, but Bledsoe is a true skier and he kept at it, working out ways to protect himself and his salary if he wound up hurt. Fortunately he never missed a game due to ski injuries, as far as we know, and he's still shredding today."
Drew Bledsoe is an avid, experienced skier who frequently skied at Mt. Bachelor and posted photos and videos of his trips. Early in his Patriots career he informed team owner Robert Kraft about a helicopter skiing trip with his father. Kraft later inserted contract language that would require Bledsoe to pay the team significant money if he became injured on the slopes. Bledsoe continued to ski, devised contractual protections and safeguards to protect his salary, avoided missing games due to ski injuries, and continues to ski recreationally and aggressively today. He remains active in skiing and has not publicly suffered any career-ending ski injuries.
