"New Hampshire, like several states in New England, is home to a ton of abandoned and forgotten ski areas. Many of them have completely faded, recognizable only by the slight appearance of a trail or two. Others still have buildings, lift parts, and other lost equipment spread throughout the area. Mount Whittier in West Ossipee, New Hampshire, is one of those abandoned areas that still visible through buildings and gear. Avery Zucco explored the area, finding lift poles, buildings, gear, and much more."
"According to Zucco, Mount Whittier was around from 1946 to 1985, first opening as Mittelbirge Ski Slopes. It had around 9 trails and a vertical drop of around 1,300 feet. 3 t-bars were installed between the late 1950s and mid 1960s, and 1 rope tow and 1 gondola were featured on the mountain."

Mount Whittier in West Ossipee operated from 1946 to 1985, originally opening as Mittelbirge Ski Slopes. The resort offered roughly nine trails and a vertical drop of about 1,300 feet. Three T-bars were added between the late 1950s and mid-1960s, and the mountain also featured a rope tow and a gondola. Substantial remnants remain on the mountain, including lift poles, buildings, and scattered gear. Visitors to the site can still observe tangible infrastructure from the former ski operations.
