California's oldest amusement park to get new daredevil ride
Briefly

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is set to unveil the Vertigo 360, a new pendulum-style ride, expected to open before Memorial Day 2026. With permits recently approved, this attraction will offer a unique experience by swinging and rotating riders in a circular gondola, allowing for complete 360-degree rotations. Riders will be secured in a shoulder restraint system and the gondola will accommodate up to 16 participants. This addition follows the introduction of new rides in 2024, such as the Dream Wheel Ferris wheel and Surge, which join the boardwalk's historic collection of attractions.
The ride simulates a pendulum, combining swinging and rotating movements. With each swing, the gondola gradually achieves a complete 360-degree rotation, delivering a uniquely thrilling experience.
Permits for the ride were approved by the Santa Cruz Planning Commission on Thursday. The ride is expected to open sometime before Memorial Day 2026.
