Buttermilk Ski Resort, Aspen, CO Conditions Report: Park Laps, Tiehack, and a Storm a-Brewin' - SnowBrains
"Conditions ReportAspen, Colorado, most famously known for hosting the annual Winter X-Games competition, is home to four different mountains that all make for excellent and unique skiing and snowboarding experiences. In the midst of an eerily dry Colorado winter, Aspen has the most skiable terrain in Colorado right now, with several thousands of acres open for riding across all skill levels."
"For my first few runs of the day, I headed over to the Tiehack side of the mountain. The Tiehack Express lift covers over 1,500 vertical feet and services several blue and black groomers that are really wide open and steep enough to fly down. I have ridden Buttermilk Mountain a few times and always have the same thought that it is such a sleeper mountain for an incredible powder day."
"For me, terrain park laps are always in service even during a low-snowfall winter. This log jam was a bit intimidating, yet photo-worthy, and the rest of the terrain park was fun and flowy. Something that strikes me about Buttermilk's main terrain park is that it is set within the confines of a twisting and turning tree-cut run, parts of which are especially steep. The features, including both rails and jumps, are quite spread out, but still close enough to have rhythm."

Buttermilk Mountain offered rolling groomers, scenic vistas, and a terrain park that combines flowy lines with a twisting, tree-cut run that includes steep sections. The Tiehack Express lift climbs over 1,500 vertical feet and serves wide blue and black groomers suited to fast laps. Park features include both rails and jumps that are spread out yet close enough for rhythm. An afternoon storm refreshed the snow, improving conditions for Racer's Edge groomer laps and park riding during Winter X-Games practice and competition.
