"AvalancheA backcountry skier was caught in an avalanche last Saturday, November 29, in the North Bridgers near Bozeman, Montana. While taking advantage of a the still open access road to Fairy Lake, a popular summer destination, a pair of skiers ran into dangerous avalanche conditions. "On the other side of Bozeman in the Galatin Range by Hyalite Reservoir, another skier reported an avalanche the same day. With more snow and inconsistent temperatures being forecasted across Montana over the next week, this is a good reminder to be cautious in the backcountry. Until the snowpack can settle and the temperatures get colder, it's best not to take too many risks and stick to areas with slopes less than 30 degrees."
"For those who don't want to earn their laps via hiking, Bridger Bowl is scheduled to open on December 12. Most people traveling to Bozeman to ski nearby Big Sky, but Bridger Bowl is a fantastic ski area that should also be explored. Though it's not as flashy or big, it punches well above its weight, offering a decent size and variety of terrain."
