"Winter is pacing down 5.5%, at 49.6%. ADR is up 5.9%, so the lodging community is running flat year over year with revenue earned,"
"This season, softer international demand reflects ongoing currency pressure, continued price growth and broader negative sentiment around travel to the U.S.,"
Visitation and occupancy in Aspen and Snowmass are down compared with the prior winter, pacing 5.5% behind at a combined 49.6% from November 2025 through January 2026. December combined occupancy was 51.2%, with Aspen at 57.1% (down 9.1%) and Snowmass at 45.2% (down 0.9%). January combined occupancy finished at 68.9%, with Aspen at 69.3% (down 5.9%) and Snowmass at 68.5% (down 3.3%). Winter average daily rate rose 5.9%, offsetting occupancy declines and keeping lodging revenue essentially flat. Softer international demand, driven by currency pressure, price growth and negative sentiment toward U.S. travel, is a key factor. A U.S. Travel Association forecast projects inbound travel to the U.S. will fall 6.3% in 2025, leaving international visitation 15% below pre-pandemic levels.
